My son, who was donor conceived, is now 16 years old. Through the DSR we have found five half-siblings and been able to share photos and important medical information. We have also discovered the identify of my son's biological father, and are thrilled to say they have welcomed us into their extended family. My son feels more complete, and his questions have been answered. So many people just do not understand that donating sperm or eggs is not like donating blood. There are real people involved, people who need to know where they came from, people who need to know about the children they helped create. Breaking down the unwanted barriers between donors and the donor conceived is the work of Wendy Kramer and her son, Ryan. I am eternally grateful for the work they have done to open communication and help us all deal with these issues in a healthy and mutually supportive way.
